Eliantos Hotel & Spa Review: My Stay

If you’re planning a trip to the South coast of Sardinia, then it’s likely you’ll be weighing up staying in one of the two most popular areas: Pula or Chia.

On my recent road trip exploring the stunning Sardinian South coast, I was searching for a hotel that offered more than just a bed near the beach in Pula. I came across Eliantos Hotel & Spa, a smart boutique hotel nestled in Santa Margherita di Pula. The hotel is widely recommended among travellers seeking a modern, relaxing stay with warm Sardinian hospitality (that you rarely find in the big resorts).

So, is this the right hotel for you? Based on my stay at Eliantos, I’ll give an honest look at the atmosphere, comfort, spa, and dining, and whether it’s a good choice as the perfect base for your South Sardinia holiday.

Why choose Eliantos Hotel in Pula?

The first thing that strikes you is the peaceful setting.  Eliantos Hotel is a small boutique Hotel with only 17 rooms, with lush and modern suites, nestled among a well-manicured Mediterranean garden. Thanks to its compact size, the atmosphere is tranquil, relaxing and peaceful. The service is professional and warm, tailored to each guest, which sets it apart from larger resorts like Forte Village, which is just next door.

Key Highlights:

  • 4-star boutique property
  • Spa with sauna, Turkish bath, ‘emotional’ shower, and treatments
  • Outdoor pool and solarium
  • Free Wi-Fi and private parking
  • Separate standalone villa on site, available for groups and families

eliantos hotel and spa pula from aboveLocation & Accessibility

Eliantos Hotel is located in South Sardinia in the area of Santa Margherita di Pula, not too far from the tourist location of Chia. It was easy to reach the hotel, which is about 40 minutes drive from the airport of Cagliari, although roadworks and sat-nav quirks meant we briefly lost our way. Parking at the hotel is simple, free parking is available for guests near to the entrance of the hotel, which is convenient and secure as it gets locked at night.

The setting is calm and tucked away in the Sardinian countryside, but just 400m walking distance from Santa Margherita di Pula’s beach. The stunning and famous Tuerredda Beach (note that reservations are required in summer) and Su Giudeu are a short drive away.

For culture lovers, the Nora Archaeological Site is nearby, and day trips to Cagliari, Villasimius and Teulada and the island of San Pietro on the Western side are easily accessible from here.

Check-In & Check-Out

The check-in process was smooth, efficient, and welcoming. Staff greeted us with genuine warmth, spoke multiple languages, and set the tone for a relaxing stay.

Room Quality & Comfort: We stayed in a Superior Room overlooking the pool with a balcony.

Décor: clean, bright, modern tones (white, beige textured wall and tiled flooring).

Atmosphere: calming and uncluttered, ideal for winding down after a day exploring.

Amenities: air conditioning, wall-mounted TV, wardrobe with drawers, minibar (bottled water was stocked), tea/coffee facilities.

Bathroom: stylish micro cement sink, large walk-in shower (water pressure strong but dipped slightly during peak evening use), bidet.

Comfort: firm mattress, light smooth sheets, thin but supportive pillows. I slept a solid 7 and a half hours. Overall, the room felt spacious, soothing, and designed with relaxation in mind.

Facilities & Amenities

Outdoor Swimming Pool with Bar & Restaurant

The pool forms the heart of the hotel, framed by the bar and restaurant on each side, with a raised terrace for seating and loungers above. I enjoyed relaxing here as the early summer sun set and Italian music played, while guests sipped Aperol Spritz by the water. The atmosphere felt relaxed and mostly adult, with couples aged 35–60+.

Spa & Wellness Centre

Although I didn’t try the Spa, on-site facilities include a sauna, Turkish bath, steam room, emotional showers, and massage treatments, all of which are included in your suite’s booking price.

Special Private Villas

It’s worth noting that a collection of private villas can also be rented, which sit within the hotel grounds. The first is an impressive private villa for 10 with its own pool, a well-manicured garden, a BBQ, and access to hotel facilities.

Secondly, a cluster of three semi-private villas shares its own pool, offering more space and intimacy than the hotel rooms.

Either option is definitely worth considering, especially for families and groups, as they give you the comfort of a home-away-from-home while still being within the hotel grounds. You enjoy the privacy of a villa along with full access to the hotel facilities such as the restaurant, bar and spa.

Take a look here to see the private villas in more detail.

Other Amenities:

  • Free Wi-Fi (fast and reliable)
  • Tea/coffee in room
  • Bike hire available
  • Free on-site parking

Breakfast is fresh, generous, and varied. Organic produce, local touches, and vegan/vegetarian options are available on request.

Dinner at the hotel was also praised, but it wasn’t open yet when we visited. Many guests venture into Pula town for local trattorias and seafood restaurants.

Staff & Service

The staff are one of Eliantos’ strongest assets. From check-in to daily interactions, they were professional, warm, and attentive. A standout was a friendly staff member from Milan, multilingual and incredibly helpful with local tips. The service felt genuinely personal.

Ambiance & Style

The vibe is modern boutique rather than rustic. While there are a few Sardinian touches (a tapestry in the corridor, statues in alcoves), the design is understated, clean and modern.

The atmosphere is relaxed, adult-oriented, and tranquil — no noisy kids’ clubs, just an elegant space for winding down.

The hotel is immaculate, both rooms and common areas are spotless, reflecting excellent maintenance and attention to detail.

Value for Money

At around 200 euros per night early in the summer season, Eliantos offers solid value. Ranging from 120 – 300 euros, it’s one of the more affordable options in the area, especially given its proximity to the luxury-priced Forte Village.

There were no hidden charges beyond the standard Sardinian city tax. Considering the spa, pool, and boutique atmosphere, the pricing feels justified.

Standout Features

The hotel’s unique history, location and private villa hire are the standout features.

Interestingly, the hotel’s building was a former police station before being converted into a boutique hotel. The private villa options with their own pools are truly outstanding for families seeking privacy, but still with the comforts of the hotel and staff nearby. The location is also ideal for a holiday in South Sardinia as it is just minutes from Sardinia’s most beautiful beaches, yet away from the overly crowded tourist spots.

Seasonality & Availability

Open from Easter until November.

Peak season is May–September, when booking in advance is strongly recommended.

Shoulder months (April, October) are quieter and ideal for lower rates with mild weather.

Who Is Eliantos Hotel Best For?

The adult-oriented vibe makes this ideal for couples on romantic getaways. Wellness travellers would love the spa services, serene gardens, and boutique charm. Villas are ideal for families and friends. Typical guests we found were European couples aged 35+, often German, Swiss, French, and British.

Who is Eliantos not for? Although some families with children do stay here, the facilities aren’t specifically designed for young kids (due to the deep pool and the limited child amenities).

🛎 Thinking of Staying at Eliantos Boutique Hotel & Spa?

If the big southern Sardinia resorts with family entertainment aren’t your style, Eliantos offers a calm, compact, and peaceful alternative — better suited to adults and couples looking for quiet relaxation. It’s lower cost than the large resorts yet still has a prime location for beach access along the southern coast. Expect spotless rooms, a fresh and varied breakfast, a serene pool, and staff who consistently earn top marks for their warm, attentive service. You’ll find it at Strada Statale 195 km 33.800, 09010 Santa Margherita di Pula (CA), Sardinia, Italy.
