Our Stay at Chia Laguna Hotel Village
If you’re a family looking for a wonderful holiday in the south of Sardinia, without breaking the bank, the Chia Laguna hotel might be right for you.
Chia Laguna is a 4-star hotel with a blend of children’s entertainment, a kids-friendly swimming pool, a hop-on mini train that takes you up and down to the nearby private beach club, with three dining options and a spa.
This resort is perfectly located in one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline of south Sardinia, in the area of Chia – the wonderful beaches of Su Giudeu and Spiaggia di Campana Dune are both within easy reach.
At Pocket Sardinia, we’ve reviewed countless hotels around Sardinia. Below is our detailed review of Chia Laguna Resort, covering location, rooms, dining, amenities and guest experiences so you can decide if it’s the right hotel for you before you book.

Location & Accessibility – Chia Laguna Resort
The Chia Laguna Resort Hotel Village is located in the South Western coast of Sardinia just outside of the renowned charming little town of Chia (Domus de Maria). It took us just one hour to drive from the nearest airport of Cagliari-Elmas (take note, public transport is limited so you’ll likely need a hire car). The resort is conveniently located for exploring wonderful golden sand and turquoise water beaches such as Su Giudeu, Cala Cipolla, and Tuerredda – both considered among the best in Sardinia.
A small tourist train connects the hotel to the Campana beach, making it easy for families and couples alike to enjoy the coastline without hassle. The setting is picturesque and relaxing, perfect for a restorative holiday.
Parking is free on-site, though it’s a dusty gravel car park that can be tricky with suitcases on wheels. It fills up quickly in peak season.
Other nearby attractions are the famous Chia Lagoon, archaeological sites, and coastal trails.
Check-In & Check-Out
On arrival, guests enter through large glass double doors into a grand, modern reception area. The process is fairly smooth, though it was a short wait for staff to escort us to the room.
Overall, the staff are friendly, professional, and keen to provide a lot of information upfront, since the resort is very large and village-like and can be a bit overwhelming.
Tip: Bring your car around to the front as dragging suitcases across the gravel car park can be difficult.

Room Quality & Comfort at Chia Laguna Resort Hotel Village
We stayed in a spacious studio-style room with a private terrace overlooking the gardens. Bushes are positioned at the front to create privacy, making it feel like your own small villa.
The colour scheme consists of white and green interiors, with terracotta floors, Sardinian wooden ornaments, and stencil art of the prickly pear plant – all make it both contemporary and minimalistic.
Upon entering our room, a clean fresh laundry-like scent hit us pleasantly and first impressions are that the room feels more like a holiday home rather than a standard hotel room. The room had a decent-sized bed, with twisted lights and plugs on both sides. We had plenty of space to position our suitcase and make ourselves comfortable. Blackout curtains are rare and pleasant luxury for those bright days in Sardinia, as is the essential air conditioning (make sure you never book anywhere without it in summer or you will regret it!).
Other features were a wardrobe, a safe, a basic minibar with water, and a wall mounted TV. The bathroom was nice, clean and modern and comes with a walk-in shower and stylish décor.
Our Dining Experiences
There are two restaurants within the Village that will give you plenty of options to choose from. Both serve a buffet menu with a huge selection of food, both local Sardinian cuisine and international dishes. The breakfast buffet was generous too with simple food, not overly seasoned, presumably to cater to families with kids. Vegan and vegetarian options were available.
Overall, the food was varied but not exceptional. It’s likely the menu has been created to cater for a wide range of people (and kids) with different tastes, which it does well. However, if you’re a foodie looking to experience the best of Sardinian cuisine, then the food would not be a strong reason to book.
Facilities & Amenities
The Hotel Village at Chia Laguna is designed to feel like a traditional Sardinian mini village, with refurbished cottages nestled among gardens and swimming pools (several, including family-friendly options).
The surroundings of the resort are quiet despite being very close to the maxi stage with live entertainment until late at night.
Among the amenities are two pools with children’s areas, a wellness spa with hot pools and treatments, a kids club, and evening shows on a large stage for younger guests. Partner hotels nearby also have sports facilities like tennis and football, which we were told we could use during our stay, though it’s not clear if this is always the case. Water sports are available at Spiaggia di Campana, home to the Chia Village Beach Club, where loungers and umbrellas are included. The beach is a 15-minute walk, but a small shuttle train runs guests back and forth.
Babysitting is listed on the website, along with a gym and fitness centre.
The resort also organises excursions around Southern Sardinia, including trips to the archaeological site of Nora, day visits to Cagliari, wine tasting, horse riding, and more.
Staff were welcoming and professional.

Should You Stay At Chia Laguna Hotel Village?
If you want a family holiday in Sardinia with plenty of amenities and easy access to beaches, Chia Laguna Hotel Village is a solid option. It’s not the most secluded stay, but its mix of comfort, services, and location makes it one of the island’s most popular resorts.
For those wanting more luxury, the Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia is the upgrade, but for most travellers, the Village strikes the best balance of value and experience.
